This wonderful pale ale uses a mix of classic malts and hops to create a lively pale ale with immense flavour!
Murray's Angry Man Pale Ale is a unique mix of classic UK and US pale ale styles. The best of British and German malts balances the huge citrus hop aroma and flavour strongly influenced by generous use of New Zealand-grown Motueka and Pacifica hops. A brilliant light-golden colour, Murray's Angry Man Pale Ale has a full-bodied finish and complex character. This is well balanced with biscuity/toffee flavours from selected caramalts.
"A punchy beer label with a boxing kangaroo makes for iconic connotations. And, yes, "there is a very angry man, in a very long story, but I'm sworn to secrecy on the details," says the label's head brewer Shawn Sherlock. What we do know is that angry fella's not the reason Murray's put the craft brewery on semi-trailers and moved on a rainy, rural Taylors Arm day to the coast at Port Stephens. The brewery's expansion comes by demand. There are now 26 beers and a new shopfront in Manly. And Angry Man has us on the ropes, jabbing with all the flavour of a monumental summer. It is bedded down with Mans Otter, Vienna, selected carannalts and Aussie wheat malt and spiked with a more-please hoppiness via Motueka and Pacifica cones. It is luminescent cloudy yellow with an active froth, has a dry citrus bent sparkling through mild biscuity malt flavours, with the cleansing acidity and enchanting green taste of the Motueka. The twist: The English/US pale style of Angry Man is just a window to the breadth of owner Murray Howe's leanings. His winemaker Adrian Sheridan also affords Shawn and co-brewer Ian Watson a row of barrels for oak-aged beers. "The ethos", says Shawn, "is to brew beers we like to drink" And that makes a brewery worth any road trip. Goes well: In the fight for flavour." Mike Gibb - Advertiser (Adelaide), 14 March 2012
"...Mine poured a pale cloudy gold, with plenty of carbonation and a moderate head. The aroma is strong and hoppy. My impression of the flavour is that it might be even hoppier than the Nirvana I remember. This is one bitter beer, fiercely astringent from the front of the mouth to the back, with a biting, lingering tang. It's a real punch bugger of a beer. If you like the Little Creatures-style hoppy beers then you will almost certainly like this drop"
