This is a sophisticated bone-dry rosé, predicated on using sangiovese and nebbiolo to give the wine an inherent savouriness, depth and length of flavour. The palate belies the simplicity of its pale-pink appearance, delivering a cleansing yet satisfying experience with subtle red berry fruit kissed by lemon sherbert and watermelon. The fruit was partially crushed by foot-stomping, then the juice and skins steeped overnight then pressed. Most of the juice was fermented stainless steel, with a small portion in old oak. This stunning Rosato from Brokenwood is technically a red wine, with a blend of Sangiovese and Nebbiolo but we enjoy it as a vibrant rosé wine. A beautiful coral coloured wine, with fresh floral aromas and notes of rose water or Turkish Delight. It has a lovely dry finish with plenty of acidity giving it some zest. Keep nice and chilled and enjoy on a hot day with an Italian inspired charcuterie or salad.
