Shiraz is a red skinned grape variety which is extremely popluar in Australia. Shiraz (or Syrah) originated in the Ardeche region in France and it produces the great wines of the Rhone Valley. In Australia, Shiraz is the most popular of all red wine styles and is responsible for the classic Australian wines such as Penfolds Grange and Henschke Hill of Grace. The wines produced can have immense power and strength, especially the wines from South Australia's Barossa Valley.
