Vintage 2018
Fruit was sourced from two blocks planted in 1982 and 1991 with maturation taking place in predominately French oak barrels (15% new) along with a small portion of American oak for a period of 16 months. Dense inky black in colour with a very deep black dark red hue. Sailing out of the glass is a mix of ripe blackcurrant, subtle red liquorice and tobacco scents followed by dried herbs and spicy vanillin cedar. Medium to full in body the palate is loaded with rich blackcurrant fruits which overlay a tobacco, dried herb, dusty earth, black olive and spicy cedar back drop. A masculine tannin structure lending some firmness to the long deeply fruited finish.
