Mesta Garnacha, the Spanish name for Grenache, is from Castile in central Spain. It is expressive and rich with aromas of red fruits and violets. On the palate you'll find flavours or cherry, juicy plums and a hint of liquorice. It's a great mid-week wine and will pair with spicy Spanish meats or a tagine.
Mesta wines are named after 'The Mesta' - a powerful alliance of shepherds in medieval Castile, who controlled the traditional rights-of-way for migrating sheep. Their vineyards are nestled deep in the land of The Mesta, and are still passed over by flocks on their annual migration.
