My go-to chardonnay
I've reviewed this wine before and the fact I keep coming back for more is testament to my view that in terms of quality value-for-money Chardonnay, the Robert Oatley Mudgee Chardonnay is hard to beat. Freshness is at the heart of the wine. Fruit forward, with subtle, really well-handled oak that complements rather than competes with the fruit. Perfect for converting the ABC brigade.

This is a beautiful crisp white wine - it is half way between a Chardonnay and a Verdello - beautiful.

'New' chardonnay done very well
The Robert Oatley Chardonnay was one of the first breed of new age chardonnays that convinced me that the wine industry had got the formula right and new how to make distinctive fruit driven chardonnay without overt oak. Yes, there is some lovely oak, but it is really all about attractive fruit, richness, minerality and length. Mudgee seems to produce perfect fruit for the Oatley's chardonnay and manage to sell a high-quality product and genuine value prices.
