96 points. Ray Jordan's Top 100 Reds under 50. Quintessential Coonawarra cabernet. It’s stylish and elegant, with underlying power and finesse, that is part of this famous cigar-shaped strip of the great cabernet region in South Australia. This is all about the soils and their impact on the wine. This wine introduces a leafy, slightly chalky, limestone character threading through it. Wrapping around what is the warm, powerful flesh of blackcurrant cabernet. This is a superb wine with excellent long-term cellaring. The Weekend West, 02 Aug 2025.

95 points. Quality fruit and richness of oak. Named for the strip of Terra Rossa soils shaped like a cigar that runs through Coonawarra. As it is with the power of suggestion, the Cigar invokes the savoury spices of tobacco, cedar and sandalwood. It's layered with bilberries, blackcurrants and prunes, too. Some coffee and poppy seed tones. It is a wine in the Yalumba line-up that stands out for its heavily laden spices and muscular tannins. Oak is significant and will allow the wine longevity in the cellar. If you gravitate to the seduction of quality fruit and richness of oak, this is for you. Halliday Wine Companion 2026, 24 Feb 2025.

Dark red plum in colour, medium to full depth in hue. The bouquet shows bright cherry, chocolate and musk fruit aromas supported by savoury cedar oak. The palate is vibrant with blueberries and rhubarb, balanced by chocolate and mint. The tannins have a mouth-filling praline texture on the long and lingering finish.

Very nice wine! Full bodied and well balanced. Great with food or enjoy it on its own. Current favourite. Ourcellar has the best price with quick delivery.

As good as a bottle twice its price

A genuinely beautiful red; rich and rounded. No bitter aftertaste, but not at all sweet or fruity either, just the perfect balance. I've had bottles for two or even three times this money that failed to impress like this one does. My new go to.

    Damn good Cab Sav

I first tried this wine two years ago and I buy it whenever I see it offered. It seems to be in short supply and is well worth buying if you can find it. I'm not a wine connoisseur but this definitely a quality wine and in a restaurant you'll be paying $50 a bottle.
